Last week I went out to check the melt at Reflection Lake in Mount Rainier National Park. The thaw is in progress. A few more weeks until the mass of visitors to the park will capture the mountain reflection in the lake.

I went to check out the progress on the thaw out of Tipsoo Lake on Chinook Pass (elevation 5,430 ft). This is an easy and popular destination for photographers wanting sunrise pictures of the Mount Rainier with lake reflections. See a few weeks away but I’ll be checking the progress now that the road to Sunrise Visitor Center has opened.
